The 100 Million Mani Recitation Retreat

The abbot of Than Hsiang Temple, Venerable Wei Wu, had heard of His Eminence, Drubwang Konchok Norbu Rinpoche and called on Bro. Chooi Shee Hoong, President of Ratnashri Buddhist Centre in Petaling Jaya, to invite His Eminence to perform the 100 Million Mani Puja at Than Hsiang Temple to coincide with the opening ceremony of the Temple's Main Shrine Hall on 1 December 2002.

Graduation Ceremony and Annual Concert

The Than Hsiang Kindergarten held graduation ceremony and annual concert on 22nd October 2005 in the Multi Purpose Hall of Than Hsiang Temple, Penang. The hall was packed with proud parents, grandparents and family members and friends.

The ceremony started with the singing of the National Anthem and Buddha Gem Song at 2.00 p.m. Before address the audience Ven Wei Wu and everyone present observed one minute’s silence as a mark of respect to houour the passing of the late Datin Paduka Seri Endon Mahmood, the beloved wife of our Prime Minister.

Visit of Firefly Mission from Singapore

A group of more than a hundred people from the Firefly Mission of Singapore visited Than Hsiang on 3rd November 2005. Sisters Heng Boi Sim and Koh Bee Ling took them on a tour of Than Hsiang starting with Wan Ching Yuen Centre, where they sang some songs with the old folks there and presented the old folks with presents.

Later Sis Koh introduced the Firefly Mission group to Than Hsiang Fund’s four-fold core activities of providing Education, Welfare, Cultivation, and ICT (Information, Communication & Technology).

Venerable Professor Visits Than Hsiang Temple

Venerable Professor Bhikku Dhammavihari Thero is no stranger to Than Hsiang Temple in Penang. The Venerable Professor had stayed and taught the Buddha Dharma at Than Hsiang Temple and also at the Klintiendharm (Than Hsiang) Foundation in Thailand from 1999 to 2000. We were honored that the Venerable Professor revisited Than Hsiang Temple from the 3rd to 7th April 2005. Venerable Professor Dhammavihari was escorted by Venerable Sumana who is also from Sri Lanka.

Observance of the Eight Precepts Day

Than Hsiang Foundation of Kuala Lumpur, organized and invited Xi Chao Bao Ern Buddhist Vihara's abbot Venerable Guo Neng to the Chinese Assembly Hall in Kuala Lumpur to conduct the Cun Di Bodhisattva Auspicious Blessing Dharma Assembly for three days from the 1 st to 3 rd April 2005.

Venerable Guo Neng became a monk many years ago. The Venerable had always helped other Buddhist associations in their activities. In November of 2004 he visited the International Buddhist College, located
