Kuthodaw Pagoda ( UNESCO Memory of the World ):
Home of the World's Largest Book ( It is known as the world's largest book ).
The pagoda was built in 1859, modelled on the Shwezigon pagoda in Bagan.
57 meters tall.
729 marble slabs were installed in 1868 in 729 shrines.
Each marble slab measuring 153cm tall and 107cm wide is enshrined in each of the shrine. The shrines have an entrance on all four sides with elaborately decorated arches over them and are topped with a hti, an ornamental spire.
The white shrines are lined in rows around the complex, with narrow walkways in between wide enough to walk through.

Sandamuni Pagoda:
1774 marble slabs on the initiative of the hermit U Khanti were installed in 1913.

It is a Buddhist tradition where people cook and compete in making a glutinous rice delicacy called "Htamane", which is then offered to the Buddha and Buddhist monks before being shared as a charitable food for the community.

In November, Burmese people celebrate the Kahtein Festival which involves robes and accessories, foods, medicines and novel money collected from the neighborhood and offered back to monks. On the way to the monastery, people sing and dance in order to spread donation joy around the neighborhood.
