Than Hsiang Temple held a Vegetarian Food Festival from 21st to 29th October 2025 (1st to 9th day of the 9th lunar month).
Before the start of the Vegetarian Food Festival, the canteen team, comprising of volunteers and staff, had already devoted themselves wholeheartedly to their preparatory work. Throughout the nine-day-event, all volunteers and staff worked together in their respective teams, contributing diligently and in an orderly manner.
The Vegetable Cutting Team consisted mostly of senior volunteers. They arrived early each morning to prepare vegetables with care and dedication.
Lunch boxes were packed by the Lunch Box Packing Team, who arrived punctually at 8:00 AM daily at the Ground Floor Multi-purpose Hall. They packed each box with precision and focus. Some of these volunteers have been serving at Than Hsiang Temple for over 20 years, since their youth. Many are in their 50s, 60s, or even over 80 years old, yet they continue to serve daily — a truly precious spirit of dedication.
Another group of volunteers and staff formed the Sorting and Delivery Team, responsible for counting and categorizing the lunch boxes. These were then delivered to various destinations by the Driver Team.
In addition to lunch box delivery, Than Hsiang Temple also operated several food stalls:
The Noodle Stall offered a different noodle dish each day, including Jawa Mee, Hokkien Mee, Loh Mee, Curry Mee, Laksa, and Fried Yin Yong. This was supported by another dedicated team of volunteers and staff.
The “Roti Jala” Stall was managed by a separate group, serving delicious net pancakes with potato and vegetarian mutton curry.
The “Pasembur” Stall was also prepared by another team, offering a flavourful Malaysian salad dish.
A variety of traditional pastries and buns were also available in the temple canteen.
On the sixth day of the ninth lunar month, the Mitra Welfare Centre held a charity sale featuring handmade Mua Chi. The Handicraft Team also sold their lovingly crafted handmade items.
Than Hsiang Temple’s Economy Rice Stall operated on a “donation as you wish” basis. It remains open daily — not only during the Vegetarian Food Festival — from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM, welcoming all to enjoy vegetarian meals.
Lastly, Grateful thanks to all volunteers and staff for your dedication and selfless contributions during this Vegetarian Food Festival. Your strength and teamwork made the festival a success. We’re grateful to have you all with us—wishing you Dharma joy.
