Organized by Than Hsiang Free Clinic (Western)

Hundreds of people filled the ground floor of Wisma Than Hsiang as they waited in line to have their free medical check-up. Ranging from the young to the old, the people patiently took turns to check their blood pressure, blood sugar level, cholesterol level, height and weight, body mass index (BMI) and urine testing. The medical screening was held for three hours beginning from 2:00pm and ending at 5:00pm.

To cope with the huge crowd of people, about 20 volunteers, most of whom consists of trained nurses, took medical readings for them with two to three persons handling each section. Using sophisticated medical equipment there were no fears of miscalculated readings as the nurses took extreme care when handling the equipments. Heading the team of professional nurses were Matron Jenny Yong, Sister Woon Chew Mei, Matron Toon Mok Lan, Sister Tan Ah Hong and Sister Beh Poh Eng.

Also on standby were seven professional doctors who were there to give free consultation to people who had health problems. The doctors on duty that day were Dr.Chong Keat Foong, Dr. Khor Seok Hoon, Dr. Tan Lim Seng, Dr. Goh Huck Keen, Dr. Cheng Yew Teik, Dr. Koh Chong Tuan and Dr. Ooi Eng Keat. Two pharmacist, Ms Khor Guat See and Ms Lim Bee Lean, dispense the medication to the patients as prescribed by the doctors. A dietician, Ms. Supanee Sararaks was also there to give advise to those in need of a healthy diet to nourish their bodies.
