The International Buddhist College is delighted to announce the International Young Buddhist Scholars Conference co-organized with the Than Hsiang Foundation, Malaysia. The International Young Buddhist Scholars Conference Committee welcomes contributions on various research topics relevant to contemporary Buddhist research. As such, we invite but not limited to post-doctoral researchers, young faculty staff, doctoral students and MA students from the field of Buddhist Research to participate.

The event will take place on the 16th December, 2017 at Than Hsiang Temple, Penang in the English Medium. All participants will receive a Certificate of Accomplishment issued by the International Buddhist College and the co-organizing institutions. The Outstanding Young Buddhist Scholar Award will be presented. Selected papers will be published in the EJournal coordinated and edited by Than Hsiang Buddhist Research Centre, Penang.

Key Dates
• Deadline for submission of abstract is 21 October 2017.
• Scholars will be notified of acceptance of abstract by 31 October 2017.
• Deadline for submission of the full paper is 21 November 2017.
• Early Bird Registration deadline is 15 November 2017.

Papers Submission and Registration Procedure
Full Paper must contain the name, statute and institutional affiliation of the author/authors, the title of the paper and an abstract of 300-500 words, along with 5 key-words. The number of words for the full paper is 4 000 words. Each presenter will be allotted 20 minutes to present the key points. Another 10 minutes is allotted for Q & A.

The participation fee is RM50. and should be paid after receiving the notification of acceptance. The fee includes: full participation to the conference activities (lunch & coffee), proceedings, certificate of accomplishment, working materials, and publication of the papers. The organiser will provide full local hospitality which includes airport pickup, full board accommodation and sightseeing.

Full Papers in PDF and a detailed outline of research in progress, should be emailed to iybsc2017@gmail.com with the subject heading IYBSC_2017. Candidates whose proposals are accepted will be notified via e-mail latest by 31 October 2017.

Places are limited and all young Buddhist scholars are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
